Please tell us about your background and how you came to be at Empower Generations High School.
I have been employed in the Lancaster area for over six years. Prior to this, I held a position in an elementary education setting. This year marks my first experience working with high school–aged students.
What is your role at Empower Generations High School? What’s the best part about it?
I’m an instructional specialist, and the best part about it is the kids. I enjoy working with them.
What do you LOVE about Empower Generations High School? What sets it apart from other schools?
I love my coworkers at Empower Generations, as everyone is always willing to help each other out. The community and leadership at this school definitely set it apart from other schools.
In your opinion, what makes a great leader?
A great leader is someone who can lead with honesty in a way that inspires others.
There are great social-emotional learning opportunities at Empower Generations High School. Can you share a story about seeing learners using them in action?
One social-emotional opportunity I have personally witnessed at Empower Generations is the learners coming together during difficult situations.
What does a day in your school life look like?
In the morning, I come in and get breakfast and lunch ready for the learners. Throughout the day, I work with various learners and assist them on their assignments. During lunch time, I serve lunch. At the end of the day, I grade.
Please name some fun facts about you.
- I like to go camping and enjoy spending time in the outdoors hiking or hanging out by the pool.
- My favorite time of the year is the end of the year, as I love decorating for the holidays.
Claudia’s ability to connect with our high schoolers makes her a valuable part of our community at Empower Generations High School. Through her work, she’s not only helping learners with their assignments but also supporting them as they grow into leaders who can face every challenge with grace.
