Messages from Our Staff

Empower Generations messages from our staff

Please see below for messages from our staff to you!

Ms. Rosiey:

Hello, families and learners!

Here are some updates for this week:

The Intent to Return form is coming out soon! Your response helps us know who is returning next school year so we can plan accordingly. We are able to hold your spot for next school year only if we receive your completed form. Please be on the lookout for it.

Art Gala/Housewarming celebration: Save the date of March 30 to join the fun!

Learners, we are starting our EG Ambassadors. Please come see me and sign up if you want to be part of it. EG Ambassadors will help with school activities, spirit week, senior activities, school tours, and other leadership activities and events.

School IDs are mandatory. Please bring your ID every day.

We do not yet have an Off-Site Agreement for every learner. Off-Site Agreements are still available if you haven’t filled yours out. The agreements need to be signed and turned in if you plan to go off site during school hours. This is for the safety of all. Learners must check out using their school IDs. NO agreement means you cannot go off site for lunch.

Mr. Moody:

During Black History Month, we pay tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in America. This annual observance originated in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month, to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today. Black History Month is an important opportunity to spotlight and celebrate the achievements of African Americans despite our nation’s history of racism and oppression.

Mr. Twigg:

Now that we are in the swing of things, be sure to complete all your work. Remember: Any work done on paper needs to be uploaded to your Google classroom in order for you to receive credit for your work. If you need help uploading or guidance on the assignments, please come meet with me and I will help.

Ms. Kim: Guide:

Let’s continue this semester strong! Please reach out to me or any of your guides if you have any questions or need support.

Ms. Marian: Guide:

We will soon be preparing for physical fitness testing. The state requires all tests to be completed in person. This is a good time to begin walking, running, doing push-ups and crunches, and stretching to be in shape when testing time comes. Check out this Move It Monday info about push-ups. The state test will require a classic push-up.

I am working with many learners who either learn from home full-time or are learning from home for the day. Please pop in to see me in Flipped Time. Get help, and get work submitted with me. There’s no need to be lost or confused. I am here every day to work with you. Remember that school work equals attendance. Just being there does not equal attendance. Showing up equals understanding and knowledge.

Ms. Tanya: Guide:

Friday, February 17, is MAP Make-Up testing day. Learners at Empower Generations complete the MAP test three times per year, and results drive our curriculum, provide additional support, and help us focus on academic growth in reading, math, and language usage. Our learners tested the first week of school in January. Many needed another opportunity to complete the test, so we are happy to provide a make-up opportunity. Testing will be available both virtually and on campus. Learners may either log in to Ms. Marian’s Zoom and test from home or come to campus to test in person. Testing will begin at 9 AM and end at noon. Please check your email for more information.

Ms. Jeanette: Guide:

This week we will be revising our experimental designs and preparing to choose our class ambassadors. As a reminder, our Plant the Moon Project is in collaboration with a nationwide group. Our school will be sending four teams to a virtual conference where they can share their research and communicate with actual NASA scientists. Please be sure your team is ready this Thursday. You will share your ideas, and then we will vote on which teams to submit to the conference.

Mr. Troy: Care Team:

February is always a weird month because it goes by so fast and it often makes it feel like the year that just started is already blowing by. I hope everyone is enjoying the new campus and we’re not letting our school work blow by.

Mr. Jonathan: Care Team:

Please be sure to finish LP folders on time. Many of you are beginning this semester strong, and I also see learners in need. We’re all in this together, and cooperation is key! Make sure to help one another. “Cooperation is the thorough conviction that nobody can get there unless everyone gets there” (Virginia Burden).
