Hacking UNO
Last week, learners worked on their expository writing skills. Learners worked collaboratively, in small groups, to re-imagine the card game of UNO. Each group was presented with a deck of UNO cards, dice and some assorted odds and ends. They had to agree on remixing the game into something new. This activity exposed all sorts of work around language, talking and listening, and negotiating viewpoints. Learners were then tasked to write out a clear set of instructions for playing a new game. On Thursday, the groups split up and the hacked games were played. Each team then peer reviewed and analyzed the writing for clarity. It was so much fun to see the learners create such inventive and fun games!
