Opportunities for Artists!
Art is part of the human experience, and there are many ways we create! Currently there are two open opportunities at Empower to create as part of a community.
The first opportunity is our performing art experience iPERFORM. We meet every Thursday at 2:15 to share art, explore the performer’s tools, and reflect on our experiences. We work with three professional artists who have backgrounds in music, dance, voice acting, and theatre. Please join us to discover the joys of performing and discovering new and unusual ways to make art (like this Zoom music video by Thao & the Get Down Stay Down).

The second opportunity is our Friday Creation Station. This is our visual art experience where we experiment with new techniques and media. Last week we practiced creating an optical illusion with nothing but pencil! We will learn something new this week and are excited to hear your ideas.
We create as a group as well as individually and would love to begin planning our second annual Winter Gala. Last year’s gala hosted work from 13 learner artists, one guest artist, and two staff artists as well as seven guest musicians. The gala sold 23 pieces of art and raised $550 profit, which went directly to the learner artists and musicians. Please join us to explore self-expression through arts on Fridays at noon.
