Art Club with Ms. Jeanette: Creation for Destruction!

Art Club is going to start a new series of projects called “Creation for Destruction!” This series of activities will explore creating just to create! The works we create will not necessarily be to show off because we are going to let them all go in the end!

Many people avoid making art because they feel inadequate or that their art isn’t “good.” But here’s the thing: humans don’t make art to show it off. We make art because we are human! We have things to express! We have relaxing to do and fun to have! With these projects, we will not be worried about the end product but instead the process of creating, accepting, and letting go.

Please join us Friday at 12:00 for our first project in the series, Clay Crush. Please prepare your clay ahead of time according to the recipes below:

Make Your Own Clay

Recipe Option 1:
2 cups baking soda
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water

Mix ingredients in a pot, then cook over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes (stirring constantly!). Let cool, then knead extra cornstarch into the dough until it is smooth. Store in an airtight bag until time to use.

OR

Recipe Option 2:
2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup water

Mix ingredients together and knead into a soft dough. Store in an airtight container until time to use.
