Empower Generations messages from our staff

Please see below for messages from our staff to you!

Ms. Rosiey:

Hello, Families and Learners!

We are looking forward to many end-of-the-year celebrations: pre-prom, prom, grad night, senior dinner, and graduation! It’s hard to believe we are already at this part of the school year. Here are some updates for this week:

  • Graduating seniors: Please be sure to talk with me about your cap and gown if you haven’t yet.
  • Reregistration will go out soon. We need any updated information and forms for next school year. You will receive an email notification, and it will take you to the Reg-Online portal.
  • Do you know someone who wants to enroll with us? We’ll have one more info night on May 24 for incoming learners. RSVP here.
  • Our Pre-Prom Party is Friday, May 12, at AVPH at 9:00 AM, and Prom is Friday, May 19, at 6:00 PM!
  • Are you following us on social media yet? We are on Facebook and Instagram!
  • When attending in person, school IDs and computers are mandatory. Please bring them every day.

Mr. Moody:

As we move past Counseling Awareness Month, it is very important that we manage our mental health and overall wellness. When we talk about overall wellness, it is important to mention different types of stress. Let’s review toxic stress. Toxic stress can increase health risks. These include heart disease; mental illness, such as depression; and anxiety disorders, which can have long-lasting negative impacts on cognitive functioning, behavioral health, immune functioning, and physical health. Toxic stress response can occur when a child or young adult experiences strong, frequent, and/or prolonged adversity, such as physical or emotional abuse, chronic neglect, exposure to violence, or the accumulated burdens of family economic hardship — without adequate adult support.

Mr. Twigg:

As of this week, I am opening time slots for Mr. Twigg’s Office Hours. If you would like to meet with me one on one or with a friend, let me know and I’ll find a time during one of your post-lunch workshops where we can take a look at your work. It doesn’t matter if you have a question about a specific assignment or if you just don’t know where to start. If you want to make a plan to get your work done, come sit with me!

Ms. Kim, Guide:

Ms. Marian, Guide:

Congratulations on coming so close to the end of the school semester.

Fitness testing will be held Wednesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 18. This is for all 9th graders and upperclassmen who have no data in the state system.

Fitness testing will be done in person for all learners. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. TC by email at marian.tell@empowergenerations.org.

I am working with many learners who either learn from home full-time or are learning from home some days.I am here to help you. My Zoom meeting ID is 882 9053 3901 and the pass code is MsTC. Come get help, and get work submitted with me. There’s no need to be lost or confused. I am here every day to work with you. Remember that completed school work equals attendance. Just being at school does not equal attendance. Showing up equals understanding and knowledge.

Ms. Tanya:

Spring 2023 MAP testing sessions will take place May 30 through June 2. All learners are required to MAP test. Learners may attend MAP testing on campus or log in to Zoom for virtual testing starting at 8:30 AM on Tuesday, May 30.

What to bring:

  • Your school-assigned computer or your personal computer.
  • Your computer charger.
  • Your favorite headphones. (We will have some headphones available on campus for learners who need them.)
  • Snacks and water to keep your energy up!

Note: Those testing virtually will be required to have their cameras on for testing.

We encourage all learners to test on campus if they can! We have seen time and again that learners tend to be more focused if they are testing in person rather than virtually.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all for testing!

Testing schedule

Ms. Jeanette, Guide:

We have about a month of school left! Please be sure to stay on task during your workshops and submit your assignments! Remember: Your assignments are how you prove that you learned!

Additionally, art learners are working on their final project: Slow Stitch! Supplies will be available at school to use. If you are an online-only learner, please communicate with Ms. Jeanette to receive your supplies.

Mr. Troy, Care Team:

Summer break is coming very fast. We are in the last month and a half of the school year. Let’s make a final push for school work and go into summer with fewer things on our lists! If you are struggling and need help, please seek it! Hope everyone has a great week!
