Art Club with Ms. Jeanette: Passing Portraits

flowers in sand spell peace

Art Club is continuing our series titled Creation for Destruction! In this series we are focusing on enjoying the process of creation rather than the product. We are seeking to find joy in making, acceptance of our art, and release in letting it go (or destroying it!). All pieces made during this semester will be temporary in some way.

This week we are making Passing Portraits. These portraits will be studies in how negative space helps the mind create complete pictures. We will make our portraits out of sand, sugar, salt, peas, or any other small, grainy type objects we have on hand! After creating our portraits, we will let the world blow them away and simply enjoy them while they last.

Remember, Art Club is a place to explore your own feelings, techniques, and modes of expression. We are not meeting to judge but to encourage and support each other. Please join us every Friday at 12:00.
