Harry-Truman-quoteMs. Rosiey: Office Manager:

Hello, Empower Generations Families and Learners!

Let’s welcome our new director, Ms. Sajae Davison!

Important dates to remember:

  • Thurs., 11/9: Minimum Day and End of LP 3. This minimum day gives families time to meet with their guides. Learners, please sign up for a meeting with your guide.
  • Fri., 11/10: No School in Observance of Veterans Day
  • Mon.-Fri., 11/20-24: Fall Break (No School)

Mr. Twigg: Education Specialist:

Fall Break is approaching, and so is the end of the LP! Remember: Now is the time to double-check all your assignments and make sure you’ve turned them in and corrected any assignments that have been sent back to you.

If you would like some help getting some old assignments done, my office hours are open and I’ll be available during Flipped Time for everyone!

Ms. Tanya: Guide/Advisor:

Welcome to the last week of LP 3! Please encourage your learners to check their Schoolytics, complete any missing assignments, and check in with their advisors to schedule LP 3 meetings. Emails were sent to families last Friday to schedule appointments.

Last week, learners in 9th and 10th grade completed a movie study of the life of Jesse Owens and the impact he had on the Berlin Olympics of 1936 and his role as an advocate for civil rights in the US.

We are excited to be diving in deep with our novel studies of Book Thief (grades 9-10) and The Hate U Give (grades 11-12). Learners are exploring concepts of social justice from both a global view and a United States view.

Have a great week!

Ms. Jeanette: Guide/Advisor:

Let’s play!

Learners in STEM: Light Up My Life created two different types of play dough this week. They created a no-bake sugar dough and a cooked salt dough. Both types of dough are made from household ingredients and are taste-safe for any littles in the house.

While creating the dough, learners analyzed whether a chemical or physical change was occurring as well as whether the final result was closer to a mixture or a solution. These learner-made doughs will be used this week in our Squishy Circuit project, so please be sure your learner has completed both of their doughs. The recipes and instructions can be found in the Google Classroom.

STEM: My Nature worked to complete a collaborative poster that compared the structures of a cell to a city. These posters will be hung up in the class so please make sure to finish it and do your best work! I love seeing everyone’s creativity.

Have a great week!
