Dear Empower Generation Families,
We had a wonderful first week team-building and getting to know one another. We all enjoyed seeing returning learners back on campus and seeing new faces who have joined our EG family. Our staff has been diligently working towards our motto this year – “Together We Rise.” Guides have been collaboratively planning engaging projects. Our Office Staff has been registering new families and getting all of our Master Agreements signed. Our School Counselor has met with learners to review and set graduation plans. Our Student Support Team has attended trainings, created schedules and prepped to support all learners. We have free meals, new clubs, and new community partnerships. We are working towards becoming a strong community so that “Together We Rise.”
With Gratitude,
Malaka Donovan, Director
In order to comply with the Los Angeles County Mandates, you and your learners must complete the Health Screen Questionnaire prior to your child attending workshops on site. All families will be asked to show proof of completion during Valet Drop Off. Any learner that does not have a completed Health Screening cannot be on campus. The Health Screening is located in your ParentSquare app or your learner’s student Square app which can be downloaded on your phone or computer. If you are unable to utilize this technology, please ask our front office for a printed copy.
Between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM, as well as 2:45 PM – 3:15 PM, learners must be dropped off and picked up in the back of the building through our valet. This is to minimize the impact on our neighboring tenants, as well as to make sure learners are accounted for as they leave campus. The Valet entrance is located off J-4 behind the WIC Building.
Have you signed your Master Agreement? A Master Agreement is the list of classes that your learner is taking this semester. Without the signature of you and your learner, your learner’s enrollment is invalid. Please check emails and learner emails for Empower Generation invitations to sign. Please contact Mr.Bruno (bruno.chung@empowergenerations.org) for a new invitation.
Empower Generations has partnered with Antelope Valley Transit. If you would like to receive discounted TAP cards, you can sign up for the LIFE Program. You can either sign up for 20 free rides per month or signup for an unlimited number of bus rides for $26.00. Please see Mrs. Tori if you are interested in the discounted bus passes!
Congratulations on surviving your first week of school! You are awesome and we loved getting to know you all! This week our focus is moving from introductions to Google Classroom and Goal Setting. During workshop time, learners will be focused on “Google Bootcamp.” The Google Bootcamp will be broken into two sections and teach learners how to be comfortable and confident using Google Apps and the Google Classroom. Google Classroom is where learners will complete all their projects so a firm grasp is a necessity! During flipped time, learners will work on their MAP Testing. MAP is a diagnostic tool which allows users to see where learners are academically and support them in developing goals for the year. If you are an at-home learner, you will follow the same schedule and be able to participate in Zoom proctored MAP Testing. Please be aware that an email will be sent to your Cohort EACH day with the Zoom link and testing information. See Schedule here.
